Baltic reflection

Baltic reflection

Baltic reflection submitted and taken by Pickersgill Reef.

This one was taken on the 17th June 2005 just before Spencer Tunick’s evening installation Naked City.

The tide turned and for a brief time slack water provided a beautiful reflection of Baltic. The sun at last broke through the clouds for a moment.

The surreal effect is enhanced by the complete absence of people.

The King Edward Bridge over the Tyne on a winter’s evening about 1975. You can’t see this view now because of the Queen Elizabeth II Metro Bridge.

The location was on the road just beneath the old Greenesfield Railway Works, which was once the largest employer in Gateshead. This area has now been redeveloped and transformed into trendy flats!
